About Red Road Vineyards

Our story begins and ends with a Passion for excellent wines.

In 1999, Merrill Grove embarked on a bold journey into the Texas wine scene, planting 4,000 Blanc Du Bois vines. His vision was to craft exceptional wines that captivate the senses. Today, his passion remains unwavering as he continues to expand Red Road Vineyard & Winery's diverse selection of labels, catering to every wine enthusiast. Celebrating 25 years of operation, our vineyard boasts a rich collection of award-winning wines, including sweet, semi-sweet, dry, port, and signature blends. These wines are meticulously crafted from the finest grapes grown in the fertile soil of Northeast Texas.

Our 77-acre vineyard, located near Marietta, is a testament to our commitment to quality and tradition. The property, acquired in 1990, features a charming farmhouse and is surrounded by lush greenery. It serves as the heart of our wine-making journey.

Red Road Wines (formerly Red Road Vineyard & Winery) is renowned for producing top-quality wines that embody the essence of the Northeast Texas region. Our wines are a celebration of Vintner Merrill Grove's legacy, offering a symphony of aromas and flavors that invite wine lovers on a voyage of discovery.

Our full-bodied wines are known for their clarity and depth of flavor, appealing to even the most discerning palates. Produced on our Marietta farm, these wines are aged and stored at our historic ice-house location in Naples, Texas, and are also available at five other retail outlets. Join us in experiencing the artistry and tradition that defines Red Road Wines.

The Red Road Vineyard and Winery is located at the heart of Naples, Texas within view of the Town Center Gazebo.

The winery’s original brick structure, built in the 1890’s, housed the first power and ice company.

Continuing our story, The vintner grows a variety of traditional Blanc du Bois, sweet and spicy Cynthiana Norton, deep dark Texas native Lenior and herbaceous Seyval Blanc.

“Working in small lots you have a lot more control than large volumes so things can be more personalized,” Grove explained. “The ability to hold wine until you think it’s ready for release. Every individual has a different palette. Wines of the Red Road portfolio have their own unique characteristics within the parameters of the grape varietal characteristics that I prefer.”

According to Grove, his Blanc du Bois, Lenior and Cynthiana vines ripen beautifully in the humid climate of the piney woods region as they are disease resistant. Mouth-filling flavors, low amount of tannins, mineral richness and impressive clarity are the signature taste of Red Road Vineyard & Winery.

The next major addition to Red Road Vineyard was the winery and tasting room. Grove invested in the historic location in 2004, where he now houses his tasting room, cellar and a portion of the winemaking operation. This 5,600 square foot facility, located beside the tracks near downtown square and adjacent the Town Center Gazebo. The original brick structure, built in the 1890’s, once housed the Northeast Texas Power Ice Company. The building was last operational in the 1960’s as part of SWEPCO Power Company.

After restoration, the venue found new life as the Red Road Vineyard & Winery and as of 2023, their name has changed to Red Road Wines LLC!
